West London House by Tom St Aubyn
This project designed by Tom St Aubyn involved the complete refurbishment and renovation of a property that was in poor condition. The original structure would shake when vehicles passed by, creating an uncomfortable living environment. We tackled these issues head-on by structurally reinforcing the building, insulating the external walls and roofs, installing double-glazed windows, and fitting underfloor heating throughout. The new rear extension transformed the home, creating a large, open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area perfect for family gatherings. Full-height windows allow natural light to flood the space, offering stunning views of the newly landscaped garden. The design focused on natural light, with sightlines that extend from one side of the house to the other, east to west, promoting a feeling of openness and freedom. We celebrated the ground floor?s principal rooms and staircase with traditional paneling, herringbone oak flooring, and new ceilings with cornices, complemented by contemporary lighting and furniture.
The extension has polished concrete floors and soundproofed ceilings to create a peaceful atmosphere, while the modern style ensures the space feels bright, welcoming, and full of life.
