Layà Villas designed by Comma Projects is a collection of residences that elegantly stand along Morotai Street, named in homage to the Indonesian island’s historical significance in the Liberation of the Philippines during WWII. The vision for Layà Villas was to craft a serene sanctuary distinct from the suburban norm?a pair of architecturally designed duplexes that defy local expectations, akin to twins flaunting entirely unique personalities through divergent interior schemes.
For Villa A, the objective was to instill an immediate sense of tranquility, reminiscent of a day spa or wellness center. Achieved through neutral, non-white finishes, organic curves, and a delicate interplay of soft contours against textured tiles, the Turkish marble in the kitchen mimics the natural ebb and flow of the nearby sand and ocean. Handmade Moroccan bejmat tiles provide a textured contrast, while the master ensuite transforms into a luxurious day spa experience beneath a custom sky window. Sunlight cascades through the sky window, illuminating the uneven textures of the handmade tiles, often evoking strong emotional reactions amongst visitors.
