One Room Challenge: The BIG Reveal
I’ve been giddy with excitement to share the BIG reveal of Jackson’s new room with all of you. When Linda from Calling it Home invited to be part of this season’s One Room Challenge with House Beautiful, I knew exactly what room I wanted to design: redesigning Jackson?s bedroom from a nursery to a toddler room. It was a labor of love putting the pieces together for his room – I was my own client! I didn?t want it to look cookie cutter – I wanted to make sure it had layers, depth and texture and I couldn?t be happier with the result! It is a bedroom that shines with Jackson?s personality.
I began with the bed. I wanted a simple upholstered bed that I could spruce up with interesting textiles, pillows and linens. I began with a Helix mattress. It is divine and so easy to install ? it arrived in the mail in a box! Nest step was bedding – I worked with SF based Coyuchi on putting together the perfect layered bed with their beautiful bed linens and blankets. It all began with a stripped wool blanket at the end of the bed, a simple white bedcover, and a gray striped pillow. The sheets are the softest flannel I have ever felt. A total enticement to sleep in his big boy bed! To add dimension to the simple bed frame, I draped a stunning hand-loomed wool bedcover from Hollywood at Home. I also adorned the bed with a world map pillow by Peter Dunham Textiles ? hopefully I will pass my love of travel on to Jackson!
