DMTV Milkshake: Suchi Reddy Discusses Design Research + Neuroaesthetics

This week?s DMTV Milkshake guest is Suchi Reddy, architect and Founding Principal of award-winning studio Reddymade Architecture and Design. Reddymade spans diverse typologies from residential interiors to public installations – always with a design ethos informed by neuroaesthetics. During her DMTV Milkshake interview, Suchi discusses her research process, the meaning of neuroaesthetics, how she applies it to her work, and more.
No matter what type of project Reddymade decides to take on, Suchi and her team always approach each brief with their desired emotional response in mind. This is perhaps best exhibited through its collaborative Salone 2019 exhibition ?A Space For Being? with Google, the International Arts + Minds Lab at Johns Hopkins University, and Muuto. A Space for Being was an interactive installation that incorporated diverse stimuli (physical textures, digital elements, etc.) into four separate rooms to explore how different aesthetic experiences impact our biology and well-being.
Another current project that heavily focuses on neuroaesthetics is the design of a sensory healing room with the Arts + Minds Lab at the Brain Sciences Institute of Johns Hopkins that measures the effects of space and sensory input on patients who are recovering from comas. The project focuses on the ways in which hospital design affects the recovery comfort level and speed of patients.
