Summer Breezes in the Guest Room
I have a guest room upstairs that everyone fights over this time of year since it’s the one room that has retractable door screens to allow the fresh air in. In summertime, it’s the best spot to get a good night’s sleep, so I find myself sleeping in there as much as possible!
I’ve had the same indigo floral print duvet and shams in there for years and they’ve taken on a worn blue hue that I love. The batik pillow is from One Affirmation on Etsy, the blue and white fabric is Nate Berkus’ caspian fabric.
The gold and white sconce is new, it’s from Urban Outfitters and replaced a lamp that was taking up surface space on the small side table. I found an inexpensive lantern fixture at Lowes, I loved its shape and scale but not its finish so I spray painted it with Krylon’s ‘Gold Leaf’ paint.
This room has a set of French doors that look out to the rear yard and our small vineyard. You may recall the billy bookcase project I wrote about years ago, the set flanks the French doors and provide so much storage. The curtain fabric is my own shibori print available at Spoonflower.
The new retractable door screens keep the bugs out and let the fresh air in, perfect for warm summer nights! I can’t say enough about how wonderful it is to have these retractable door screens, they make the room so very pleasant to be in April through October, I love them!
Their design is so good! They disappe...
