Interiors: Amelia’s Nursery Reveal
BIG reveal today, I’m sharing Amelia’s nursery over on Rue Magazine! Since it was my second time around designing a nursery, it felt a little more difficult to decide how I wanted to go about designing the space. The initial inspiration came from spotting a beautiful grey otomi textile artwork from St. Frank. Having grown up in Mexico City I wanted to bring a little touch of that into Amelia’s room. I always like to start with one special item (in this case, the wall hanging) and then go from there. The rest came together quite seamlessly. Since the space is 8 x 10 and also the walk-through to Jackson’s room (have to love city living) I knew we needed to keep it simple and have the middle area of the room clear for us to get through (or in Jackson?s case ? run through). It’s amazing how such a small space brings my so much joy. Each piece means something. The Sally King Benedict ink drawing (a gift from my mom to Amelia) I’ve wanted one of her pieces for years – her work is amazing! The Pehr Designs mobile Amelia could look at for hours – she just stares at it talking up a storm. I love how incredibly soft the Pottery Barn Kids rug is for her to lay on as she attempts to roll over. Her crib and dresser from Land of Nod are two of my favorites – I love the color o...
