Cosmopolitan air inspires Manhattan apartment decor
Just one block away from Central Park and close to Lincoln Center, this 150 m² apartment is located in one of New York’s most coveted addresses. Renovated and decorated by one of the most renowned interior designers in Brazil, MarÃlia Veiga, this property was designed for a couple of Brazilians who frequently travel to the most cosmopolitan city in the world. The about 30 years old apartment was obsolete, with dark bases and totally outdated decor. The client’s request was a total redesign, with integration and a clean and contemporary language. A striking feature of the interior designer’s work, and very present in this project, is to bring contemporaneity with the potential to resist time. “For this, in details, we bet on a well-dosed mix of classic languages, but always up to date.”
The professional’s first step was to propose a new layout for the social area, leaving it with a fresh and invigorated air. ?We changed all the coverings and a search for solutions was necessary, as, for example, when we came across an air conditioning system that could not be replaced and, then, we made a large bench near the windows that – combined with the joinery – it made the place more spacious and very practical ?, he says. The dark Corian top, combined with lighter woods, integrates living with kitchen, giving spaces continuity.
